The Crossroads of Should and Must

Total detour: I was idle and bitter, and this book fell into my hands. I read the whole thing before going to bed, then fell over from exhaustion, happy and hopeful.

For those skeptical of personal growth books, a word of advice: read a few pages before throwing this book away with disdain. My prediction is that you will get through it. Because the book is light as a feather, all pretty (it looks like a children's scrapbook), and asks exactly the right questions, in big capital letters that span two pages:

The goal is to convince us to turn to our "Must", our true passion, what makes us happy, what we were born to do, rather than to our "Should", that prison we are not always aware of.

The first thing that you need to know if you want to escape from prison is that you are in prison. Until you know that, no escape is possible. (p. 44)

And a lot of tips to identify it, our reason to live, to determine what prevents us from pursuing it and to quietly undo our barriers. All this surrounded by colors, drawings, handmade diagrams, probably to bring us back to our childhood, the time when the essence of our Must was the most exposed.

Read when you have an hour to kill. It will probably be the most productive hour in a long time.
